Ni.PARK set to release next phase of business units

June 26, 2023

New business units will soon be available to let at an innovative agricultural technology park which has received more than £7million of Marches Local Enterprise Partnership investment as the development reaches its latest milestone.

From July, phase 2 of Ni.PARK in Newport will unlock three 10,000 sq ft units for agri-tech businesses to make their new home.

Ni.PARK serves as a catalyst for innovation, attracting visionary minds and fostering a collaborative ecosystem to shape the future of agriculture.

The project is part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s commitment to attract inward investment to the borough, delivered through its Growth fund which looks to ensure the right properties are delivered in the right location.

Ni.PARK is already home to a vibrant community of cutting-edge agri-tech businesses, making it a hub of knowledge, expertise, and industry networking.

By investing in this premier location, businesses can gain a unique advantage by working alongside key players in the sector, fostering partnerships, and accessing unparalleled opportunities for growth and development.

Sonia Roberts MBE, chair of the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “The £7.4million Growth Deal investment the Marches LEP has made in Ni.PARK has helped create jobs, attract innovative new businesses to the region and underline our ambition for the Marches to be at the forefront of agri-tech.

“This new phase of development will build on the site’s success and demonstrates the results the LEP and its partners have been able to achieve through collaborative working.”

Councillor Lee Carter (Lab), Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for place (the economy & neighbourhood services) said: “As Phase Two of the Ni.PARK development nears completion, these units are a perfect base for businesses to join a growing agri-tech community.

“The take up of the units at Ni.PARK which were delivered during Phase One of the programme was excellent so we are hoping these larger units which are available to let on the site will generate similar interest.

“Ni.PARK has already become a strong agri-tech centre and these latest units are in a prime location in the UK and the perfect place for companies to do national and international business from.

“We are excited to see this latest phase of the development come to fruition and more businesses choosing Telford as their new home.”

Vice-Chancellor of Harper Adams University, Professor Ken Sloan, said: “As a university committed to the development of both rural and local economies, working with both Telford & Wrekin Council and industry partners to help develop Ni.PARK makes perfect sense.

“Our students and employees have already built strong links with agri-tech businesses on the site, so its expansion is great news for them – and for our region.”

Ni.PARK is a key element in the Newport Innovation and Enterprise Package funded jointly by Telford & Wrekin Council, the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership and Homes England

The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership has now ceased trading and transferred all its functions to Shropshire Council working with Telford & Wrekin Council and Herefordshire Council, in line with the UK Government's plans for devolution.

The Marches LEP was established in 2011 and hands over an impressive legacy from its 13-year life. In that time the LEP invested over £196m in projects across the Marches, securing in excess of £100m of match funding and supported more than 66,000 business interactions.

The schemes supported have made tangible differences to local communities, increasing skills, creating jobs and improving the physical appearance of many towns.

We would like to thank all the LEP Board Members who have given their time freely over the life of the LEP, as well as all the staff who worked for the LEP over the years. We also want to thank our delivery partners, local education providers and local, regional and national stakeholders who helped us achieve so much.

The Marches Growth Hub will continue to support businesses and will be managed by Shropshire Council, supported by Telford and Wrekin and Herefordshire Councils. Each of the three Local Authorities will also continue to provide direct business support locally. Details of this support will be available through the Marches Growth Hub website and from the Local Authorities directly.
