Food and drink export opportunities in Poland and Romania
Food and drink businesses in the Marches are being invited to a Ludlow event promoting export opportunities in Poland and Romania next week.
The British Chambers of Commerce and UK Trade and Investment are working together to create an international UK business network providing practical support for UK exporters.
And the event on September 8 is one of two events being held in the Midlands where experts will be on hand to give more information on the market opportunities. Attendees will be able to hear from Marek Schejbal, who has lived and worked in Poland for many years and developed the ‘Taste of Britain – Food is GREAT’ market entry programme which has already run successfully this spring.
It comprises three stages and runs for approximately 10 months. It is jointly subsidised by UKTI and BPCC and is the most comprehensive method for entering a market by food and drink producers world-wide. He is now seeking companies interested in the second round starting in autumn and will explain the programme in detail and answer questions. Also at the event is Richard Reese, CEO at the British‐Romanian Chamber of Commerce, where he runs a project to increase British investments in and exports to Romania.
He recruited a professional team to provide solid information about opportunities in Romania, draft business intelligence reports, provide entry support and sustain existing British business all over Romania. He will explain the live opportunities in Romania in the food and drinks sector and be available for one to ones or a round table with companies.
Poland and Romania are the two fastest growing export markets in Central & Eastern Europe for food and drink and a gateway to the wider Central and eastern European region with over 100m consumers, a combined GDP in excess of £1 trillion and annual average growth rates that in recent years have far exceeded most other European countries.
The event at The Clive Conference Room, Bromfield, Ludlow, is free to attend and runs from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership has now ceased trading and transferred all its functions to Shropshire Council working with Telford & Wrekin Council and Herefordshire Council, in line with the UK Government's plans for devolution.

The Marches LEP was established in 2011 and hands over an impressive legacy from its 13-year life. In that time the LEP invested over £196m in projects across the Marches, securing in excess of £100m of match funding and supported more than 66,000 business interactions.

The schemes supported have made tangible differences to local communities, increasing skills, creating jobs and improving the physical appearance of many towns.

We would like to thank all the LEP Board Members who have given their time freely over the life of the LEP, as well as all the staff who worked for the LEP over the years. We also want to thank our delivery partners, local education providers and local, regional and national stakeholders who helped us achieve so much.

The Marches Growth Hub will continue to support businesses and will be managed by Shropshire Council, supported by Telford and Wrekin and Herefordshire Councils. Each of the three Local Authorities will also continue to provide direct business support locally. Details of this support will be available through the Marches Growth Hub website and from the Local Authorities directly.
