Slice of £200 million Regional Growth Fund available for projects
Businesses in Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin can now bid for a slice of £200 million Government funding to help fund private sector-led projects which drive economic growth.
Round six of the Regional Growth Fund was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister last week, with £410m from the first five rounds already invested in projects across the Midlands including in the Marches.
The Marches LEP’s Redundant Buildings Grant Scheme is supported by £1.5 million of RGF funding, a project which sees businesses given grants to bring buildings back into productive economic use. It is expected to create more than 300 jobs across the Marches.
Businesses which can generate significant private sector investment and sustainable jobs can bid for a share of the £200 million available from the fund, with round six open to companies seeking £1 million or more.
Chairman of the Marches LEP, Graham Wynn OBE, said: “The Regional Growth Fund is helping to accelerate growth and support private sector projects which are creating and safeguarding jobs.
“Our Redundant Buildings Grant Scheme, which has now been extended with further support from the RGF to cover Worcestershire as well, has already supported more than 30 projects to the tune of £1.12m.
“I would urge companies in Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin to consider looking at whether they have projects which would benefit from the RGF fund. This round is open until September 30.
“Even if projects or programmes are already being developed or under way, a bid can be made for some extra funding to get started or for the scheme to reach its full potential.
To help bidders on their applications, road shows and expression of interest days will be held throughout the country from today to provide advice on how to make a successful bid.
