Over the last year Midlands Engine Cyber have successfully delivered an outward mission to Maryland, hosted an inward delegation and signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the two regions.
Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Marches LEP, including the Hereford Enterprise Zone at Skylon Park, in partnership with Department for International Trade and Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, are developing a programme over the next three years to create sustainability and add both trade and inward investment value for the region.
The trade mission, which takes place between the 9-13 October 2017, is designed to further showcase and sell the regions’ cyber innovation and technological capabilities, as well as encourage new businesses to benefit from the increasing opportunities of this high-growth market by developing UK/US relationships.
The Midlands based delegates will take part in the prestigious CyberMaryland Conference 2017, with Maryland being recognised as a cyber-security leader both nationally and internationally with the world’s largest concentrations of cyber security companies, educational institutions and government agencies with a workforce of over 77,000 cyber security professionals.
The headquarters of the US National Security Agency is at Fort Meade and some of the world’s largest IT and cyber security firms are located in Maryland. In addition, there are five universities which are designated centres of excellence in cyber education, a large research community leading a strong development environment for incubators and accelerators
If you would like to join the trade mission this October please contact linda.smith@wlep.co.uk and submit your application before the 1 September 2017 deadline. More information can be found in the flyer below.

The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership has now ceased trading and transferred all its functions to Shropshire Council working with Telford & Wrekin Council and Herefordshire Council, in line with the UK Government's plans for devolution.

The Marches LEP was established in 2011 and hands over an impressive legacy from its 13-year life. In that time the LEP invested over £196m in projects across the Marches, securing in excess of £100m of match funding and supported more than 66,000 business interactions.

The schemes supported have made tangible differences to local communities, increasing skills, creating jobs and improving the physical appearance of many towns.

We would like to thank all the LEP Board Members who have given their time freely over the life of the LEP, as well as all the staff who worked for the LEP over the years. We also want to thank our delivery partners, local education providers and local, regional and national stakeholders who helped us achieve so much.

The Marches Growth Hub will continue to support businesses and will be managed by Shropshire Council, supported by Telford and Wrekin and Herefordshire Councils. Each of the three Local Authorities will also continue to provide direct business support locally. Details of this support will be available through the Marches Growth Hub website and from the Local Authorities directly.
