A pioneering collaboration between cyber security experts from the Midlands and colleagues from the USA will be showcased at a major exhibition this month.

Hereford Enterprise Zone will join a team from the Midlands Engine at the Infosecurity Europe event at London’s Olympia next month to highlight the region’s ambitious drive to become a world-leader in the cyber sector.
They will share a stand at the event – the premier exhibition of its kind being staged from June 5-7 – with a team from Maryland after the two regions signed a partnership deal to work together.
Hereford Enterprise Zone chairman Andrew Manning Cox said the event would help the zone’s Skylon Park base underline its reputation as a centre of cyber security and defence excellence.
“This event brings together cyber security companies from around the world and it is a prime shop window for some of the exciting developments and opportunities we have at Skylon Park.
“We are the only Enterprise Zone in the country with a specific focus on security and defence, providing ready-made and dedicated supply chain opportunities as well as land for investors looking to relocate and expand.
“On a wider basis, our collaboration with colleagues across the Midlands under the Midlands Cyber banner, and the exciting partnership between Midlands Engine and the State of Maryland, mean we are ideally-placed to offer the very best package to investors looking for the perfect base in the UK.
“We would be delighted to talk to anybody who wants to take advantage of some of the exciting opportunities we have available.”
The event will bring together private and public safety and security experts, crime prevention and police representatives and those in the military and broader defence and security industry.
Skylon Park was also a sponsor and exhibitor at the Three Counties Defence and Security Expo (3CDSE), held at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern on May 31.
The expo, showcasing the defence and security sector, attracted more than 600 delegates and built on the successful inaugural event held in Hereford last year.

The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership has now ceased trading and transferred all its functions to Shropshire Council working with Telford & Wrekin Council and Herefordshire Council, in line with the UK Government's plans for devolution.

The Marches LEP was established in 2011 and hands over an impressive legacy from its 13-year life. In that time the LEP invested over £196m in projects across the Marches, securing in excess of £100m of match funding and supported more than 66,000 business interactions.

The schemes supported have made tangible differences to local communities, increasing skills, creating jobs and improving the physical appearance of many towns.

We would like to thank all the LEP Board Members who have given their time freely over the life of the LEP, as well as all the staff who worked for the LEP over the years. We also want to thank our delivery partners, local education providers and local, regional and national stakeholders who helped us achieve so much.

The Marches Growth Hub will continue to support businesses and will be managed by Shropshire Council, supported by Telford and Wrekin and Herefordshire Councils. Each of the three Local Authorities will also continue to provide direct business support locally. Details of this support will be available through the Marches Growth Hub website and from the Local Authorities directly.
