Chamber Champions 2020

A new awards scheme to recognise some of the incredible work going on across Shropshire during the Covid-19 pandemic has been launched by the county’s Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber Champions Awards will celebrate the inspiring and inventive way the county’s business community have responded to the crisis and the community spirit they have helped generate.
A Chamber spokesman said: “These challenging times have certainly bought about so many amazing stories of how organisations and individuals have got involved and made a real difference and who deserve the recognition of the entire business community.”
The awards will be live streamed from a specially constructed TV studio on Friday, July 17 from 7pm – 8:30pm. The closing date for entries is midnight on Friday June 26.
The event, hosted by Shropshire Business editor Carl Jones and produced by the award-winning team at Yarrington in Shrewsbury, will feature seven main awards, all of which recognise community-minded achievements during the coronavirus pandemic.
The categories are:
• Champion of Champions 2020
• Charity Champions
• Entrepreneurial Spirit
• Good Neighbour
• Service to the Community
• Valiant Volunteer
• Unsung Hero Viewers will get chance to take part in an online vote, and there will be a few other surprises too – including the appearance of some celebrity guests.
The event will also be supporting Shropshire Mind and Shropshire Domestic Abuse Service.
More details of the categories can be found at https://chamberchampion.co.uk/award-categories/ and entry forms are available at https://chamberchampion.co.uk/entries-and-nominations/

The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership has now ceased trading and transferred all its functions to Shropshire Council working with Telford & Wrekin Council and Herefordshire Council, in line with the UK Government's plans for devolution.

The Marches LEP was established in 2011 and hands over an impressive legacy from its 13-year life. In that time the LEP invested over £196m in projects across the Marches, securing in excess of £100m of match funding and supported more than 66,000 business interactions.

The schemes supported have made tangible differences to local communities, increasing skills, creating jobs and improving the physical appearance of many towns.

We would like to thank all the LEP Board Members who have given their time freely over the life of the LEP, as well as all the staff who worked for the LEP over the years. We also want to thank our delivery partners, local education providers and local, regional and national stakeholders who helped us achieve so much.

The Marches Growth Hub will continue to support businesses and will be managed by Shropshire Council, supported by Telford and Wrekin and Herefordshire Councils. Each of the three Local Authorities will also continue to provide direct business support locally. Details of this support will be available through the Marches Growth Hub website and from the Local Authorities directly. The Marches Careers Hub will continue to be delivered and will be managed by Shropshire Council, supported by Telford & Wrekin and Herefordshire Councils. Website: www.marchescareershub.co.uk | email: info@marchescareershub.co.uk
