Board member:

Dr Catherine Baxter

Dr Catherine Baxter

Catherine was appointed to The Marches LEP board in January 2020. With a career spanning over 30 years in senior university roles in England, Wales and overseas, Dr Catherine Baxter has blended academic roles with those of a greater management focus.

About Dr Catherine Baxter

Catherine has been employed by Harper Adams University for over 10 years and is currently clerk to the Board of Governors, a role similar to that of a company secretary.

Her experience in senior University roles has exposed Catherine to strategic planning, corporate governance matters, the management of major strategic projects and change management programmes, day to day line-management of a wide range of professional teams, and major budgetary responsibility.

Dr Baxter also represents UK Universities on the national body that develops training for Higher Education governance, and she has authored or reviewed several governance publications for the HE sector.

Her experience and knowledge of the public sector; partnership working in the Higher Education environment; and her appreciation of how and where Higher Education interacts with government agencibes, collectively equip Catherine with a true understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing this element of the education space.

She was, until recently, a member of the Shropshire Business Board and continues to be a member of the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association Board for the West Midlands.
