Christine was appointed to the Marches LEP Board in January 2020. A business partner in award-winning fruit growing business, AJ & CI Snell, Christine has a wealth of experience in the food industry that has encompassed research and development, working within large multinationals and most recently, hands-on management in horticulture.
About Christine Snell
Christine commenced her career as an Assistant Lecturer in Nutrition, Food Science and Technology at Hereford College of Technology, before joining Allied Lyons and then SmithKline Beecham. Over a period of 18 years in these roles, she developed extensive experience in research and development, as well as marketing and project management.
Joining her husband in the fruit growing business in 2000, Christine has since been pivotal in Human Resources management for a large workforce which is bolstered annually by a seasonal workforce from eastern Europe. She has implemented effective processes that have introduced a structured approach to recruitment, induction and training for both long-term employees, as well as seasonal workers and has been responsible for the firm’s Ethical Trading Initiative standards and management of its successful Sedex performance to meet key customer requirements.
Christine is married with two children and enjoys a diverse mix of hobbies that include tennis, horse riding, breeding Hereford Cattle, gardening, cooking and travel. She has also, since 1993, been a Justice of the Peace sitting in both the Adult and Family Court. Christine is also an independent governor of Harper Adams University.
