Mandy Thorn

Chair of Shropshire Business Board

Mandy Thorn is chair of the Shropshire Business Board and managing director of Marches Care Ltd in Shrewsbury.  After commencing a graduate training programme with the national bus company, a career in marketing and communications followed, initially in Birmingham, then London.  She then returned to Johannesburg where she worked as a marketing consultant and also volunteering in specialist family support centre.

Ms Thorn joined the family business in late 1993; initially setting up and managing a domiciliary care business. She took over Marches Care Ltd as managing director in 2003. Since then she has built the largest care home in Shropshire which opened in 2007 and has seen the company triple in size. Ms Thorn is also chair of Shropshire Partners in Care and vice-chair of the National Care Association, as well as a being a Shropshire Business Ambassador.
