Dr Geoffrey Davies OBE DL
Chair of Marches LEP
Chairman of the Marches LEP, Dr Davies is the founder, managing director and CEO of Alamo Group Europe Ltd and managing director of Ludlow-based McConnel Ltd. He is also the managing director of three UK-based companies, Alamo Manufacturing Services, Bomford Turner and Spearhead.
Dr Davies is also vice-president of Alamo Inc, the world’s largest vegetation maintenance machinery company, NYSE-listed, and in 2004 was awarded an OBE for services to agriculture and rural areas, (in particular to Ludlow and South Shropshire). He was also a recipient of the Queens Award for Enterprise Promotion in 2011.
A former chairman of the Shropshire Business Board, Dr Davies is also a representative on the All-Party Parliamentary Export Group, House of Lords and All-Party Parliamentary Engineering & Information Technology Group, House of Commons.
Born near Whitchurch and educated in New Zealand, Dr Davies has a reputation for transforming long-established but financially troubled engineering companies into profitable concerns that use leading edge management and manufacturing methods
