The Marches won Enterprise Zone status for its defence and security sector-focused bid to create a dynamic and vibrant zone in Herefordshire.
The global security market is currently worth approximately £120 billion and will reach £200 billion over the next ten years. The UK security sector supports 18,000 companies, employs 335,000 people and is expected to grow by 7.7 per cent by 2012.
The UK has one of the most diverse and technically-advanced security sectors in the world, with exceptional strengths in counter-terrorism, border control, transport security, forensics, plus chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence.
